Report: GLG’s Coffey Will Stay In London

Greg Coffey is staying in his adopted hometown.

The soon-to-be-former star GLG Partners manager will stay in London when he sets up his own hedge fund shop, Financial News reports. Coffey, an Australian, is leaving GLG in October, six months after resigning, withdrawing his resignation and then resigning again.

FN reports that Coffey’s precise plans are still unknown, but the uncertainty as to whether he would remain in the British capital, or whether he would join another firm rather than strike out on his own, has been resolved.

For its part, GLG is moving on, announcing a slew of hires in recent weeks to fill Coffey’s big shoes. Coffey manages funds that brought in about half of GLG’s performance fees last year.
